Monday 21st October, all the First Steps Dance pupils enrolled in a spooky Halloween special day. The children had great fun arriving to their lesson in fancy dress costumes. We had cute pumpkins, scary skeletons, wacky witches and some sweet black cats. We danced to the Monster Mash, wiggled our bones like skeletons, flew round the room with our ghost sheets and had fun spinning on our bottoms (introduction to break dancing). In the new year First Steps Dance shall be holding new toddler dance classes in Rochford. Please contact us to book your first lesson free of charge. The exciting new class begins Thursday 9th January at The Freight House Rochford. These lessons will be held term time at 10am every Thursday mornings. The class will consist of lots of fun music and moves to develop little ones rhythm, co-ordination and stamina. It's a great work out for toddlers of many ages and helps them establish movements/skills they will need when they start physical education at school or progress to a higher dancing level if they choose. "Dance Around the World" was our fabulous dance workshop that took place on 12th August 2013. The children who took part enrolled on an imaginative venture across the globe. Experiencing some new dance styles and music from Cuba, Australia, Hawaii, China and returning back to Scotland. Although the children were unfamiliar with these dance steps and techniques they showed great triumph and enthusiasm. We danced goodbye to the Dragon and hello to the Chinese Snake with First Steps Dance. The children enjoyed a themed lesson to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year. They developed their rhythmic response by responding to a different type of music with the chinese drums and symbols. The children developed their style of dance by trying out classic chinese dance with fans, which they took home to decorate with mums and dads after lesson. On Sunday 9th December, nine up and coming toddlers danced on stage at St Edmunds Community Hall and presented their families with an amazing 30 minutes of magic. First Steps Dance was very proud to present their christmas production "We Will Rock You!" For some youngsters this was their first time on stage and wow was it a success.
